The Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre is grateful to all volunteers, businesses and community organizations that stepped up to support individuals impacted by the wildfire. During an emergency of this magnitude, the resiliency of a community is measured by the strength of the public good that supports the recovery process as a whole.
Evacuees without insurance and who require assistance should register online at https://ess.gov.bc.ca, or visit the Resiliency Centre as of Saturday, September 23:
- Visit the rdco.com/resiliency for information on supports.
As residents are permitted to return home, they must take steps to ensure their homes and properties are safe and be aware of the various hazards that the emergency may have caused.
The Emergency Operations Centre has a comprehensive guide for safely returning home with information about property and food safety, including fridges and freezers, danger trees, pets, power, water, insurance, mental health support and more.
