Resiliency centre

The McDougall Creek Wildfire is now held and all State of Local Emergencies have ended.

A resiliency centre is open to support people impacted by wildfires in the Central Okanagan to connect with the services they need in a safe and supportive environment:

  • Phone: 250-469-6327
  • Email: resiliency.centre@rdco.com
  • Website: rdco.com/resiliency

The centre serves as a single point of contact to provide supports and information from a variety of government, non-governmental organizations, and agencies including: Emergency Support Services (ESS), building permit advisory support, community case workers, disaster psychosocial services, First Nations’ Emergency Services Society, ICBC, Insurance Bureau of Canada, Ministry services, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse, Service Canada, Service BC, St. John’s Ambulance, Work BC, etc.

Residents seeking wildfire recovery and support information, including the most up to date hours of operation, please visit the Resiliency Centre online at rdco.com/resiliency. For news about ongoing support and the recovery program, visit rdco.com/subscribe and choose McDougall Creek Wildfire Recovery.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre is grateful to all volunteers, businesses and community organizations that stepped up to support individuals impacted by the wildfire. During an emergency of this magnitude, the resiliency of a community is measured by the strength of the public good that supports the recovery process as a whole.

Emergency reception centre

Evacuees without insurance and who require assistance should register online at https://ess.gov.bc.ca, or visit the Resiliency Centre as of Saturday, September 23:

  • Visit the rdco.com/resiliency for information on supports.
Make a safe return home after an emergency

As residents are permitted to return home, they must take steps to ensure their homes and properties are safe and be aware of the various hazards that the emergency may have caused.

The Emergency Operations Centre has a comprehensive guide for safely returning home with information about property and food safety, including fridges and freezers, danger trees, pets, power, water, insurance, mental health support and more. Find the guide and other resources online at cordemergency.ca/resources
