McDougall Creek Wildfire - EVACUATION ALERT for Shannon Lake Area to North Glenrosa

West Kelowna, B.C.  – The City of West Kelowna has issued EVACUATION ALERTS for the Shannon Lake Area and Smith Creek Agricultural Area to Powers Creek (Glen Canyon) and the North Glenrosa neighbourhood. 

This Evacuation Alert is being issued proactively as the Emergency Operation Centre continues its pre-planning work overnight. Residents can continue to monitor www.cordemergency.ca for further updates to be issued on Aug. 19 or as conditions change. 

Areas of North Glenrosa that are specifically within the EVACUATION ALERT area are:

  • CORINE RD

Other areas of Glenrosa are NOT currently within an Evacuation Alert or Order area. 

Residents can refer to the interactive map on cordemergency.ca to search by street address if they are unsure whether they are affected. 

Residents under EVACUATION ALERT must be ready to leave their homes at a moment’s notice, be prepared to be away from their homes for an extended period of time, make arrangements for pets and pack essential items such as medicines and important documents. 

Residents on EVACUATION ALERT can register in advance at https://ess.gov.bc.ca.  

All other evacuation orders and alerts remain in place.  

Roads are closed within Evacuation Order areas. 

Unless you are evacuated or require emergency or essential travel, please stay off roads to keep them clear for evacuated residents and first responders.
