Reception Center Set-Up for Evacuees Outside of RDCO

Group lodging has been prepared in Kelowna and West Kelowna for evacuees impacted by BC’s wildfires, with Emergency Social Services ready to help.

Emergency Management BC has requested the Regional District of the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre provide temporary group accommodation for evacuated BC residents evacuated. Emergency Social Services is prepared to accommodate in excess of 1,000 evacuees at locations in Kelowna and West Kelowna.

A Reception Centre has been set up at 1480 Sutherland Avenue and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. All people on Evacuation Order must register at the Reception Center to receive assistance.

Several fire departments throughout the Central Okanagan have deployed resources to assist with the Williams Lake fire.  The Central Okanagan has received significant assistance from other areas throughout the years and are happy to assist as able.
