Evacuation Order Reduced - Munro Lake Wildfire

Peachland/Regional District of Central Okanagan, B.C. The Evacuation Order due to the Munro Lake Wildfire has been reduced, returning all residents to their homes with only properties in the industrial area of Peachland remaining on Evacuation Order.

The Evacuation Order area has been amended and now includes only the following addresses:

  • 5440 to 5463 McDougald Rd
  • 5357 to 5495 Pierce St
  • 5379 and 5436 Princeton Avenue

The following addresses are now placed on Evacuation Alert in addition to other Alerts already in place:

  • 5420 and 5443 Pierce Place
  • 5321 and 5371 Princeton Avenue
  • 5380 Princeton Avenue

All other Evacuation Alerts remain in place. To determine if you are in the evacuation order or alert area, view the detailed map showing affected addresses at cordemergency.ca. Residents on evacuation alert should be prepared to leave their home with short notice and to stay away for an extended period.

The Munro Lake Wildfire grew slightly and is now estimated at 310 hectares. With some wind in the forecast, and dry conditions, emergency responders will continue to patrol the fire overnight.

The muster centre at the Peachland Community Centre will close today at 4 pm.

Out of an abundance of caution, residents returning home should inspect their property and trees for any damage. No structural loss was reported, but property owners should start insurance claims if they suspect wildfire damage and report it as soon as possible to their insurance representative.

The Munro Lake Wildfire is still classified as out of control and residents can expect continued firefighting activity and smoke over the coming days.
