Evacuation Order Reduced: Munro Lake Wildfire

Peachland/Regional District of Central Okanagan, B.C. – The Evacuation Order for industrial properties in Peachland has been reduced to an Evacuation Alert with only one address remaining on Evacuation Order due to the Munro Lake Wildfire. 

The following properties have now been placed on Evacuation Alert: 

  • 5440 to 5463 McDougald Rd 

  • 5357 to 5495 Pierce St 

  • 5379 and 5436 Princeton Avenue 

The following property remains on Evacuation Order: 

  • 5875 Brenda Mines Road (ZipZone Adventure Park) 

All previously issued Evacuation Alerts remain in place. To determine if you are in the evacuation order or alert area, search your address in the detailed map at cordemergency.ca. Residents on Evacuation Alert should be prepared to leave their properties with short notice. 

BC Wildfire Service reports little growth on the Munro Lake Wildfire from yesterday and will prioritize work along the east edge of the fire. If conditions are favourable, BC Wildfire will complete the planned ignition that began yesterday. Increased smoke and fire activity may be visible. 

The Evacuation Order and Alerts currently in place are expected to remain today and tomorrow, September 30. Unless conditions change, the Emergency Operations Centre will not be providing further updates until Wednesday, October 1. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU ARE ON ALERT:   

  • Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.   

  • Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.    

  • Prepare to move persons with disabilities, children and/or neighbours, if assistance is needed.   

  • Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).   

  • Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.   

  • Arrange accommodation for all members of the residence, if possible.    

  • Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating. Monitor cordermergency.ca for information on evacuation orders and the location of Reception Centres.   

Emergency response personnel request that the public: 

  • Avoid the area so emergency responders can effectively perform their duties 

  • Call 911 in case of emergency
