Evacuation Alert continues for Brenda Creek wildfire News Release No. 13
News Release No. 13 Central Okanagan, B.C. – BC Wildfire reports no significant change in the size of the Brenda Creek wildfire. It’s estimated at 622 hectares and continues to burn out of control.
The Evacuation Alert continues for a section of the mostly rural Central Okanagan West Electoral Area in the Regional District of Central Okanagan, south of Highway 97-C and northwest of Peachland. A map is available at www.cordemergency.ca/map with the specific details of the area affected by the Alert. This areas remains under a BC Wildfire Area Restriction Order.
Portions of the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and Thompson Nicola Regional District are also affected and anyone in those regional districts should check with their emergency program for the latest information.
The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre remains activated to support the BC Wildfire Service and continues to monitor the Brenda Creek wildfire and respond to any changes.
Firefighters and equipment from Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and North Westside fire departments are supporting the BC Wildfire Service efforts on this fire by patrolling the BC Hydro transmission line corridor through the fire area. They continue extinguishing any hot spots and are removing potential fire fuels around power poles.
BC Hydro continues to actively monitor its transmission line and infrastructure through the Brenda Creek wildfire area. Its daily patrols confirm no damage and the system is operating reliably. There is currently no fire activity near the transmission line, and the fire activity is burning away from the line.
BC Hydro continues to work with BC Wildfire, structural firefighters and local fire crews to protect the transmission line and corridor. The sprinkler protection system is in place and fire hardening on this line has been completed. This continues to be very effective in protecting this critical infrastructure.

This is the last scheduled update from the Emergency Operation Centre for the Brenda Creek wildfire until early next week. The EOC remains active and monitoring the wildfire. If conditions change and a further emergency update is required it will be posted online at www.cordemergency.ca and emailed to subscribers.

The Central Okanagan Emergency program reminds residents that they should know the risks of potential emergencies, make a plan and prepare grab and go kits in the case they are required to leave their homes for at least 72 hours.
