Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre has been deactivated

News Release No. 16, Central Okanagan, B.C. – With the rescinding of all remaining Evacuation Alerts for the Okanagan Complex fires (Mt. Eneas, Law Creek, Goode’s Creek), the Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) is no longer activated and operational. The Centre remains on standby and is ready for re-activation should another emergency require support and coordination.

BC Wildfire Service continues to manage the active Okanagan Complex fires. For ongoing information on current fire conditions, visit bcwildfire.ca. Forest fires and the smoke they produce can impact air quality. Check the Air Quality Health Index for updates on levels and their associated health risks.

We are grateful for the incredible support from BC Wildfire Service, the Province and local firefighting crews for their swift and continued response to keep our regional communities safe.

Residents and visitors are reminded that due to the high to extreme fire hazard, a regional campfire ban is in place effective today at noon. All campfires are prohibited throughout the Regional District of Central Okanagan including: the City of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country, District of Peachland, Westbank First Nation and the Central Okanagan East and West Electoral Areas. Campfires are not permitted at any time within the City of Kelowna.

If you see smoke from a wildfire, report it at *5555 from a cell phone or 1-800-663-5555. If there is threat to life call 9-1-1.
