Crown land area restrictions in Philpott Road Area
An updated area restriction for all Crown land in the vicinity of the Philpott wildfire came into effect at 12 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2017.
Area restrictions under Section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act are put in place to help protect public safety and allow fire suppression efforts to continue efficiently and unhindered. Recreational use of crown land, including hunting, is prohibited in the specified area, check the boundaries and learn more about specific access and restrictions: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2017FLNR0253-001497
Crews continue to action the Philpott wildfire estimated at 460-hectares with 30% containment.
Residents allowed back to their properties should be aware that active fire suppression work continues throughout the area of the fire. Ground crews will continue extinguishing spot fires and conducting danger assessments and falling trees in fire impacted areas.
Household pets, like cats and dogs are only allowed to return with residents. Other animals are not allowed back in at this time, due to the uncertainty about fire behaviour and the potential for reinstating Evacuation Orders if necessary.
Please stay out of the way of emergency vehicles and crews. BC Emergency Preparedness has additional information for returning home after a wildfire.
