The Evacuation Alert for the Cinnabar Creek wildfire remains in effect overnight. That means that residents and visitors affected by the Alert at Lake Okanagan Resort, Camp Owaissi and Camp Mewata must be prepared to leave with short notice should fire conditions change. The wildfire is estimated by BC Wildfire Service at 2.8-hectares in size. It was reported shortly after 3 this afternoon and saw an immediate response from two area fire departments. Overnight, firefighters and equipment from several agencies will remain on site to monitor the fire, conduct patrols and deal with any hot spots. The Cinnabar Creek wildfire has resulted in the closure of a portion of Westside Road. RCMP have set up roadblocks for all traffic on Westside Road, south of Lake Okanagan Resort and just south of Dennison Road. Residents are still able to access Dennison Road. Motorists heading south on Westside Road are being stopped just south of La Casa Resort to determine their residency. Boaters are being asked to stay out of the area of Okanagan Lake near the fire as aerial crews and equipment are picking up water for the fire attack. An Evacuation Alert has been issued for Camp Owaissi, Lake Okanagan Resort and Camp Mewata along Westside Road as a result of the Cinnabar Creek wildfire. These residents should be prepared to leave their homes on short notice should conditions require an Evacuation Order. People are requested to stay away from the immediate area and RCMP is doing traffic control. The Emergency Operation Centre has been activated to support crews in the field responding to this incident. New information will be released to the public through the media and as soon as it becomes available.


West Kelowna, B.C. – Fire crews are into the mop up stage today for the 4.24-hectare Mt. Boucherie fire.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue, with the assistance of BC Wildfire Management Branch firefighters will be putting out hot spots and continuing efforts to reinforce fire guards.


Regional District of Central Okanagan, B.C.  – An Evacuation Order is in place for properties affected by a forest fire south west of the Okanagan Connector including Trepanier Road from the Connector including Star Place all within the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area and an area within the District of Peachland


The Regional District of Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre has issued an Evacuation Alert for some residents of the Wilsons Landing area of the potential danger due to the Wilsons Landing forest fire.
