Starting this Friday, all campfires will be prohibited throughout all Central Okanagan municipalities.  That’s the earliest in recent memory and a week and a half earlier than last year (July 14th).

The ban takes effect at noon Friday, July 3rd and coincides with the similar action announced by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations across the Kamloops Fire Centre area within BC Parks, Crown and private lands.  The ban will remain in effect until further notice


The brush fire in Knox Mountain Park is now considered fully contained. The evacuation alert notice for all streets has been rescinded.


West Kelowna, B.C. – The Smith Creek fire remains active at approximately 400 hectares.

All previous Evacuation Orders and Alerts remain in effect for about 2,100 residents in just over 1,200 homes. 

At this time, the risk to hydro lines being affected by the Smith Creek fire is not as great as it was earlier today.  However, residents should still be prepared to be self sufficient in the event of any power interruption should circumstances change.


An Evacuation Alert has been issued for approximately 150 properties from 1898 to 2515 Bartley Road and Lenz Road (including Pinewood Villa Mobile Home Park) in West Kelowna as a result of the Smith Creek fire. These people should be prepared to leave their homes on short notice in the event the fire expands.


The Smith Creek fire has grown to approximately 175-hectares in size. The fire has not yet been contained.

Fire crews from West Kelowna, Peachland, Lake Country, Kelowna and BC Wildfire Management Branch are working to establish guards, contain the fire and protect homes and vital infrastructure in the area.

An evacuation order has been expanded to include the Smith Creek Neighbourhood, Tallus Ridge Estates, Alexandria Way and Shannon Woods.


West Kelowna, B.C. – Fire crews are into the mop up stage today for the 4.24-hectare Mt. Boucherie fire.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue, with the assistance of BC Wildfire Management Branch firefighters will be putting out hot spots and continuing efforts to reinforce fire guards.


The Evacuation Alert issued earlier this morning for approximately 40-50 properties in the Wilsons Landing area remains in effect due to the potential danger from the wildfire in the area.

Updated information has been provided regarding the status of Westside Road.


The Regional District of Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre has issued an Evacuation Alert for some residents of the Wilsons Landing area of the potential danger due to the Wilsons Landing forest fire.
